Talk about how this holiday is a time for people in our country to consider all the things they have to be thankful for.

∑•∑ Explain that the first Thanksgiving, in 1621, included 50 Pilgrims and 90 Native Americans. They ate berries, bread, corn, and turkey.

∑ The Night Before Thanksgiving By Natasha Wing A happy celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday—filled with family, fun, and food.∑

Make a neat turkey treat.
Let your child make a
sandwich with vegetable
cream cheese and two
pieces of cocktail-sized
pumpernickel bread. Turn
the sandwich so it is a
diamond. Slide pepper
strips (tail feathers)
between the slices. On
top, lay a piece of bread
(head) and affix it with
cream cheese. Use pepper
bits for the face.

Get Ready for Turkey!

The Thanksgiving Story By Alice Dalgliesh A wonderful story of one Pilgrim family who joins others to celebrate their first harvest feast in the Plymouth Colony.

A turkey on our table,

Stuffing piled up high

(Hold hands high.)

Giving thanks for all we have …

Now it’s time for pie!

(Rub tummies with hand.)
